This is a case study series to unfold the behind-the-sense design process of Shen Yueh Yun Tea House (山月雲茶館) Tea Packaging Redesign Project by INNORHINO. We will walk with you through various crucial design stages in the following articles:
Use Case Scenario Analysis
Where will our design live in real life?
Hi there! Today we are going to talk about the use case scenarios for high-end teas for our client Shen Yueh Yun’s Tea House, and how we use these scenarios to find the perfect packaging fits for their new packaging targeting the larger market. Let’s get started!
Narrowing Down The Use Case Scenarios
Aiming For High-End Business Settings
There are many business opportunities for a premium tea brand in high-end business settings. Corporates hold all kinds of business events and conferences all the time year-round. A premium tea gift pack could be a great welcoming business gift. Enjoying a cup of fine tea in the break room can be one of the most relaxing moments during these business events. A beautiful tea set in an exclusive VIP lounge can also leave a great brand impression on these VIPs.
One purchasing transaction of premium tea gift packs from a corporate procurement department can be huge. Corporations are also likely to keep ordering these premium teas from the same source. And if someone from these high-end business settings enjoys the tea, they will be more inclined to buy it personally. People from these high-end business settings usually have more disposable income in the consumer market. This could potentially open up doors for the higher-end consumer market as well.
Packaging + Display
Packaging:
Enclosed Container
- Protection
- Portable
- Dispenser
Display:
Product Presentation
- Configuration
- Revealing
- Unboxing
In these use case scenarios, tea packaging also serves as a small tea product display. The package itself offers protection, portability, storage, and dispensing functions for the products.
But more importantly, packaging also plays a significant role as the medium of product presentation. Packaging is like a tiny stage for showing off the products. We will definitely set our eyes on a beautiful package with products carefully organized in a “staged” configuration.
Other than functioning as an enclosed container and static product presentation, packaging also provides rich dynamic experiences for unboxing. Seeing a beautifully packaged product, unboxing it with excitement, and being surprised by the reveal of what’s inside are the very reasons why we remember a brand.
