When LiLit approached us, they weren’t simply looking for packaging—they were looking for a way to claim their space in a male-dominated cannabis industry and speak directly to urban, empowered women with discerning taste. Our role as brand strategists was to ensure every design choice served that larger purpose, transforming packaging from a commodity into a storytelling vehicle that could differentiate LiLit on crowded retail shelves.


Brand Challenge

LiLit’s leadership knew exactly what they didn’t want: generic, masculine, “stoner-culture” packaging that ignored their true audience. But they also had real-world constraints:

  • Budget limitations requiring cost-optimized solutions
  • No investment in custom tooling (no new molds)
  • Full regulatory compliance (child-resistant, tamper-evident)
  • A need for strong retail impact and authentic storytelling

Our task was to help them achieve a truly custom, premium-feeling brand expression without the cost of bespoke structural molds—proving that strategic design can deliver luxury and distinctiveness even with standard forms.


Strategic Goals

We defined clear brand strategy objectives:

  • Own a unique, feminine voice in cannabis

    • Embrace sophistication, artfulness, empowerment

    • Create instantly recognizable shapes and labels

  • Enable rich, consistent brand storytelling across SKUs
    • Build a cohesive system supporting different formats
  • Deliver a premium, emotionally engaging experience
    • Balance safety/regulatory features with tactile luxury

Brand Concept: The Rebel Muse

We anchored LiLit’s packaging system in a clear brand persona: The Rebel Muse. This concept embodies elegant defiance, feminine power, and artistic mystery—designed to resonate with modern women who value ritual, quality, and self-expression. This brand idea informed all design decisions, ensuring consistent symbolism and emotional appeal throughout the line.


Translating Strategy Into Design Features

We worked with our design partners to deliver features that supported LiLit’s brand promise while staying budget-friendly:

  • Certified Child-Resistant Closures
    • Using standard mechanisms with premium finishes
    • Compliant, safe, yet luxurious in feel
  • Tamper-Evident Elements
    • Protect consumer trust without compromising design
  • Custom Die-Cut Labels
    • No custom mold costs, but fully bespoke visual storytelling
    • Shapes, colors, and art direction that command retail attention
  • Empowerment Symbolism
    • Subtle moon phases and mystical details to evoke ritual and feminine energy
    • Carefully art-directed graphics to enrich brand storytelling

Collaborative, Iterative Approach

We partnered closely with LiLit’s team to ensure the final packaging felt truly theirs. Through rounds of prototyping, material sampling, and graphic refinements, we balanced:

  • Cost and production feasibility
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Brand vision and aesthetic quality

This collaborative process ensured buy-in at every stage and resulted in packaging that felt tailored—despite relying on cost-effective, mold-free production methods.


The LiLit Collection: A Cohesive, Premium System

The final deliverable wasn’t a single container, but an integrated packaging system designed to embody “The Rebel Muse” across formats:

  • Certified Child-Resistant Jar
    • Premium glass, standard CR lid, custom labeling for strong brand presence
  • Embossed Tin with Illustrated Paper Sleeve
    • No new tooling needed for the tin; embossed stock elements and artful sleeves deliver luxury and storytelling
  • Hinged Rigid Box with Sleeve
    • Magnetic closure, hidden classical portrait, printed rituals—creating an unboxing experience worthy of a keepsake
  • Die-Cut Paper CDU (Counter Display Unit)
    • Designed for retail theater, featuring layered graphics that reinforce brand symbolism and encourage interaction

Each piece was designed to deliver consistency and drama on-shelf while providing a memorable consumer experience.


Designed for Versatility

We ensured these solutions weren’t limited to cannabis flower alone. By choosing flexible formats and art-forward design, the system can scale to:

  • Herbal and floral blends
  • Aromatherapy and spa products
  • Premium teas and botanical supplements
  • Curated gift sets and limited editions

This strategic foresight enables LiLit to grow its brand portfolio without redesigning from scratch.
